Health & Social Care

Subject Leader – Social Sciences
Miss E Ley

Around three million people work in health or social care. Health care roles include doctors, pharmacists, nurses, midwives and health care assistants, while social care roles include care assistants, occupational therapists, counsellors and administrative roles. Together they account for nearly one in 10 of all paid jobs in the UK. The demand for both health and social care is likely to rise in the future and therefore the demand for people to fill these vital jobs will increase.

Health and Social Care at Notre Dame is an optional subject in both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 that aims to give students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and technical skills that are used within the health, social care and childcare sectors. It aims to equip and prepare students for further learning or a career both in the sectors and more widely.
