Our house is named after one of the most famous scientists of her time: Marie Curie.
Curie was a Polish-born physicist and chemist. She was awarded a Nobel Prize in 1903 for Physics and in 1911 for Chemistry for her work on radioactivity and her discovery of the chemical elements polonium and radium.
Marie Curie’s research was vital in the development of X-ray equipment and the use of it during WW1. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and is currently the only woman to win the award in two separate fields. She is a huge inspiration to us and a great female figure to look up to.
In Curie House, we strive to persevere with our studies and commitments like Marie Curie did. We are a school which rises to challenges and having Marie Curie as one of our role models is very motivational and encouraging for us all.
